Flemish hip-hop king goes solo!
Who in Flanders doesn’t know Ghent/Mechelen duo Safi & Spreej? The uncrowned kings of flemish-speaking hip-hop pulled the plug after their last release ‘Trots’. The two Eigen Makelij stars explored new horizons and at the same time established a solo-arsenal of new songs. Mechelen’s Safi was the first to release new work upon the world and entered through the front door: Sony Music instantly signed him to their label, single ‘Fine’ was a hit on almost every radio station and scored more than 100,000 views on YouTube in the first 3 weeks after its release.
Safi’s new work, aside from a golden pop sound and a clear focus on impressive hooks, doesn’t avoid open-hearted themes. The beats also received a fresh summery metamorphosis, although he doesn’t renege on his roots: second single ‘Hoge Ogen’ perfectly reflects the evolution between S&S and Safi 2.0. And Safi 2.0, that is even more impressive live than it was before!
