Beautiful country-couple from The Broken Circle Breakdown.
Long before The Broken Circle Breakdown Bluegrass Band, there was The Partchesz (read: ‘De Paardjes’ = The Horses). That is: the musical marriage between Bjorn Eriksson (Maxon Blewitt and previously also Zita Swoon and Admiral Freebee) and Nathalie Delcroix (Laïs and Birds That Change Color). The Partchesz was the homebase for expressing their collective love for country and honouring legends like Lefty Frizell and Hank Williams.
This inspired film-director Felix Van Groeningen to ask Bjorn Eriksson to write the soundtrack for his Oscar-nominated film 'The Broken Circle Breakdown' in '12. The soundtrack occupied the very top of the charts for months and The Broken Circle Bluegrass Band wowed literally every audience in Belgium.
This time Eriksson and Delcroix do it amongst family, under their own surnames. The repertoire for ‘For Ever’ is a fine and honest fusion of their musical worlds, namely country and folk. De Standaard recently crowned them as the most beautiful country-couple of Flanders. When we hear the wonderful(!) forerunner, single ‘Walking’, we also want to shout: Belgium now has its own Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell!
Opener You Raskal You, from Antwerp, will soon present their second album, one bearing the bombastic title 'it Takes a Whole Lot of Fools to Build a Pyramid But Love Only Takes Two'. On this second release they further explore the Americana-drenched sound, and echoes of Dixieland, Afrobeat, Bluegrass, Cubaanse Son, Malinese blues & Congolese Soukous are never far removed.
