High Mass for Kraftwerk inspired synthophiles
CHROME BRULÉE
A Belgian synth-collective inspired by Moroder, Kraftwerk, Italodisco and horror soundtracks! Chrome Brulée is on a mission to breath an entirely new life into the electronic music that caused a furore in the ’70s and ’80s, and it doesn't avoid a cliché here or there in the process. Armed with an arsenal of vintage synths, music videos that bathe in an ’80s vibe, and top cassette releases that make one giddy... these guys won't stop before the entire country is brought to its knees by their intergalactic sounds.
And this jolly gang cloaks itself in even more mystery by hiding behind disguises. Or do you happen to know who Alex Mayhem, Michael Shredlove, Club Cannibal, Joey Crystal, Kid Supreme, Robert Magnet, Ricky Sunset and Max Hijacks are?
Certainly a comic adventure on cassette, but apparently they're even more impressive in real life, with a flashy light show to top it all off! Bring on that cartload of synths!
GO MARCH
The guys from Go March were originally aiming for a cross between Boris and Lightning Bolt with their sound, but they ended up on a much more interesting path after extended jam sessions full of improvisation. This instrumental trio from Antwerp presents an irresistible blend of electronica and rock, with ‘Rise’ as debut single – a moody post-rock track that hits the spot and sounds like Mogwai meets Kraftwerk.
Respectable music blog Clash Music has already jumped on the bandwagon and described ‘Rise’ as “a propulsive, molten piece of music, almost funky in its digital rigidity.” That's already quite something, but we certainly also see Go March – euh – march right to the top of the European musical landscape.
