Electronica by Flume's Australian mate.
Does humour belong to music? Oh yes! Or what do you think about fantastic names like Laston & Geo, Com Truise and this Chet Faker? Aren't they great! Chet Faker is the alter-ego of Australian electronica musician Nicholas James Murphy. Bearing in mind LCD Soundsystem, his real name could already have been a great nom de plûme, as far as we're concerned . His alias is an ode to his great idol Chet Baker and more specifically “… the mood of music he used to play—something I would like to at least pay homage to in my own music.”
His version of Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’ was an internet hype in '11 and his first EP ‘Thinking In Textures’ saw the light of day ’12. He later worked with that other acclaimed Australian electronica musician Flume (see: their ‘Lockjaw’ EP) and remixed the likes of MS MR and fellow countryment Temper Trap. He's currently working on his debut and will soon appear on stage in the AB for the first time.
Opener will be Werkha from Manchester, or: the project of musician/producer Tom A. Leah. He already has the blessing of Gilles Peterson and, as bonus, he has just been picked up by Tru Thoughts. His electronica is deliciously laced with afrobeat, house, jazz, funk ans soul.
