Three-day high mass of Brusselian electronica!
The BEM (or Brussels Electronic Marathon) is the three-day electronica high mass of Brussels, whereby the electronic talent of Brussels is exhibited at venues throughout the city. All this is jointly organized with FTRSND, the Brussels start-up that was last year housed in the AB Ticket Shop. They programmed a number of interesting artists in the AB Club:
Antilux
Amazingly dark electronica, laced with a layer of deep blues and rowdy rock, that’s the perfect description for Brussels duo Antilux. Or, as they themselves say: the power of post-dub with the vibe of a dreamy guitar, supported by airy vocals. Sounds more than interesting!
Ozferti
Ozferti, aka The Nubian Wizard, takes you away to another world, a world where it’s all about Ethio-hop. This unique genre is a mixture of Ethiopian hip-hop and jazz with surprising influences like psychedelic trap, progressive dub and spicy electronica.
Sparkling Bits
The duo behind Sparkling Bits is pretty much the most capricious collective running around at BEM. They prove that capricious can be a compliment, with their combination of ultra-varied influences like jazz, techno, ambient, hip-hop, deep house and classical music. Strange? Yes, but that is also more than a compliment!
Sonøren
A dreamy vibe that hangs between soundtrack/sandscapes and dark house & techno, or: Sonøren’s often 100% improvised live-set. Add to that a few deep drone-sounds, clicks and melancholy sounds from this Scottish Icelander.
