Moshpit-o'clock and metalcore-mayhem with BMTH!
Bring Me The Horizon
So what do we see looming there on the horizon? Five zealous young guys from Sheffield, in Britain, all cut out for metalcore, who generously toss around pulverizing guitar-work, searing drum sets and the occasional death rattle.
Frontman Oli Sykes and entourage have grown on ‘Sempiternal’, Bring Me The Horizon’s fourth long-player by now. They gained inspiration from soundtracks to films like ‘28 Days Later’ and ‘The Beach’ by Danny Boyle and you can hear it… More attention to melody, a sound that is richer and more layered (thank you, Terry ‘Deftones-Limb Bizkit-Pantera’ Date), less in-your-face, with electronic influences that serve the songs. Basically, a heap more mature. “Sempiternal isn’t simply the best album of BMTH’s career. It’s one of the best albums of recent times” was what our favo metal-mag Metal Hammer reported about the album and we'd not dare to challenge that.
We saw a BMTH do an excellent job at Groezrock and this summer they'll be playing themselves to bits as headliner of the Vans Warped Tour, so we'll see a well-trained team drop by in November. Just check out the clips of BMTH's previous visit to AB on the worldwide web (‘Pray For Plagues’ live has been viewed almost 108,000 times!) and you'll know what to expect. Moshpit-o’clock!
Pierce The Veil
Pierce The Veil may certainly call themselves the special guest of the evening, with their sturdy yet poppy melodious metalcore. The band encompassing the Fuentes brothers last year released third album ‘Collide With The Sky’ and that title perfectly suits their live shows, whereby they mainly ‘collide with the audience’. In homeland US they already turned the place upside down with August Burns Red, Blessthefall, Silverstein and A Day To Remember (in AB on 7/02) and now it's Brussels' turn!
Sights & Sounds
The starting shot will be given by Sights & Sounds, who canned their '09 debut ‘Monolith’ with producer/musician Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad). Secretive post-hardcore band though, as the post “New music and tour announcements coming soon everyone! Stay tuned...” on their facebook page already dates from 30 May. Secretive or not, these Canadians will hit hard.
