Brian Wilson, the brain behind the best and most beautiful of The Beach Boys. Now heads out on the road with 'Reimagines Gershwin': a fantastic project that lets you hear how the wonderful Brian Wilson arrangements so perfectly suit the superb compositions of George Gershwin (yup, the guy from 'Summertime', 'Rhapsody In Blue', 'It Ain't Necessarily So', 'I've Got A Crush On You'...)
Its already 2007 ago since we were able to welcome this musical hero to the AB. So this time with Gershwin and Wilson hits on the programme (with which he will also pay three visits to London's Royal Festival Hall, by the way!) No, of course these are not The Beach Boys: the unfortunately deceased Carl and Dennis are irreplaceable but Wondermints and Jeff Foskett then provide that unique sound, plus now also The Stockholm Strings 'n' Horns. Timeless beauty and international class!
Shall we just summarize Brian Wilson's biography for the youngsters? Pop! Utmost, radiant, aurally pleasing pop! All of that now since the so-called Golden Sixties but then without (having to) take part in revival-gala's. Brian Wilson is the brain and driving power behind the best of The Beach Boys and anyone who doesn't know him has sand in their ears: 'God Only Knows', 'Good Vibrations', 'I Can Hear Music', 'California Girls', 'Wouldn't It Be Nice', 'Cottonfields', 'Sloop John B', 'Do It Again', 'Help Me Rhonda'... Those are only a few of the many indestructible hits, aside - if possible - even more intense masterpieces like 'Caroline No', 'Disney Girls', 'Tears In The Morning'... For those who like their pop witty and crispy! Genius and mystery and harmony (and therapy) pretty much go hand in hand for Brian Wilson but just recently he finally finely finished his (lost) Smile-masterpiece and fortunate insiders of course also swear eternal fidelity to his 'Pet Sounds' album.
