Throughout: musical extras as part of BRDCST
POP-UP BEE-BAR: INSTALLATION ‘THE BEE SYMPHONY’ + TASTING HONEY BEER
On Thursday we launch the first edition of BRDCST, our brand new indoor festival where we focus on musical limitlessness. One of the most remarkable musical extras will take the form of a pop-up Bee Bar where you can experience ‘The Bee Sypmhony’ installation live and can also taste our very own limited edition honey beer.
The Bee Bar will be completely furnished with creations by artist AnneMarie Maes. Her works stimulate the development of a more sustainable world and relate to the monitoring of urban honey-bees and their environment. For her: art is life and life is ecological. In the meantime, you can learn more about her work here.
We welcomed 80,000 extremely hard workers in May ‘15. 80,000 Bees that contribute to biodiversity in the national capital. They are currently in hibernation (sorry, winter cluster, as it is known) and at the end of March they will be kicking off a new bee season themselves. The ideal moment for us to set up a pop-up bee bar in the old ticket shop, to mark the occasion.
AnneMarie also has bee hives, located a stone’s throw from AB. In the summer, our bees even have contact with hers. She gifted us eight kilos of honey and as a result AB-BEEER is a fusion of AB-honey and hers.
The beer of the month will be served in the bar against the backdrop of sound installation ‘The Bee Symphony’ from ’11 by Chris Watson (ex-Cabaret Voltaire), a track that explores the musical marriage between the human voice and the buzzing of the bees.
Location: Steenstraat 25 (old ticket shop AB)
Open 24-27/03: 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm
