‘Young Echo are causing the tectonic plates of Bristol’s bass culture to shift again’ The Wire sept. 2013
Out of an urge to breathe new life into the Bristol club scène and nostalgia for the golden days of Bristol’s dub producers, a few young kids started broadcasting on the radio and organising concerts and club evenings in 2010, under the name of Young Echo. This quickly spawned a community in which like minds could meet and swap ideas.
As a 9-strong collective they are just about the best thing to emerge from the city of Tricky, Portishead, Massive Attack and Roni Size in the last ten years.
Vessel, El Kid, Kahn, Neek, MC Alex Rendell, Jabu, Zhou, Manomars, Ishan Sound and Paul Zaba are just a few of the names of the producers and partnerships that make up the collective and will be attending BEAF. Their exciting mix of electronica, grime, dubstep, techno, noise, reggae and hip-hop is guaranteed to batter your brain and legs in an all-out assault.
Get ready for the deepest bass and best beats of the moment at what is certain to be one of the hippest dance festivals of this coming fall.
