Excellent indie-folk for fans of Bon Iver and Iron & Wine.
The third and also long awaited album by American indie-folk band Bowerbirds is about to be released (read: March 2012). ‘The Clearing’ was largely recorded in the famous April Base studio in Wisconsin or: Bon Iver's home studio. Bowerbirds – established in Raleigh, North Carolina - revolves around duo Philip Moore (vocals, guitar) and Beth Tacular (accordion, vocals) and expands into a 5-member band live. They've already toured with Bon Iver and if you want to sate yourself on the brand new track ‘Tuck The Darkness In’ then you can do so via this link.
Support-act will be Danish experimental pop band Slaraffenland. Their latest album 'Private Cinema' already dates from ’09 and was released on Efterklang's Rumraket label. Their music sounds rather conventional, the first time you hear it, but it's laced with avant garde, noise, jazz and rock. As if Sun Ra, Animal Collective and Broken Social Scene went camping together. Detail: Slaraffenland is Danish for ‘The Land of Milk and Honey’.
