Guitar pleasure! Enjoyable teacher! Masterful masterclass! Impressively educational! This modest master doesn't use that many exclamation marks himself, but his string playing (slide, finger style, percussion), his craftsmanship (music and ethnology), his fruitful collaborations (with musicians and students)... In everything that Bob Brozman presents you can hear a healthy, stimulating striving for rich musical and interpersonal contact. This American has been spreading that good word for decades now. If need be, you could compare it to what Ry Cooder also loves to do and does so well. In Bob's case then we're talking about field work and recordings in the Blues Delta, Papua, India, Réunion, Guinea, Hawaii, Australia, Okinawa (from where he once also brought Takashi Hirayasu to the ABClub)... This time solo, but don't worry: then there is more than enough room for his unbelievably witty tales. Something else for the advanced audience: Mr Brozman is especially mad about those shiny National guitars. For the beginners: on his site there are also 'Tips For Guitarists', like this one about the slide alias bottleneck: 'Fifth size Mateus wine bottles make the best slides' (due to the long straight neck of the bottle, this connoisseur clearly thinks less of the content).
On the afternoon of his ABConcert, Bob Brozman will also hold an exclusive workshop in the ABClub. As theme, he's suggested: rhythm development, open tunings, & slide (based in blues). Those who want to be there should send a recording of maximum 10 minutes duration, on CD, to AB Bob Brozman, Anspachlaan 110, 1000 Brussels, and do it before the end of October. Don't forget to provide your email address and mobile number. The most promising submissions will be selected and contacted personally. The workshop will take place on Tuesday 25 November, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. This will be the third AB guitar-workshop this year, following a singer-songwriter session with Elliott Murphy and a metal-fusion session with Paul Gilbert. Fine thing, those workshops: successful and instructive afternoons, and Broz will keep your attention too!
