A Liveurope concert:
The first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.
BLUES PILLS
Psychedelic blues from Örebro in Sweden, with youthful (barely 16 at the time of first EP ‘Bliss’) French guitar-wonder Dorian Sorriaux and the superb vocals of frontlady Elin Larsson among the ranks. Their self-titled debut on Nuclear Blast tends toward a fragrant patchouli potpourri of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, early-Fleetwood Mac and Janis Joplin, and was skillfully recorded by Don ‘Graveyard/Junip’ Alsterberg. Alsterberg takes his place at the helm again for successor ‘Lady In Gold’, an album that will have us seeing all the colours of the rainbow as of 5/08.
KADAVAR
Trio from Berlin that, aside from the long hair and beards, also took on the musical style of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Hawkwind and ZZ Top. As musician with a nickname like ‘Lupus’, ‘Tiger’ and ‘Dragon’, you have almost no choice but to fill your three longplayers with raw, spaced-out psychedelic stoner- and blues-rock. ‘Berlin’ is the title of their latest via Nuclear Blast and it’s the ideal soundtrack for throwing lots and lots of very tepid beer down your gullet and working yourself into a nagging headbanger’s cramp. They like visiting the Antwerp area, where they recorded a live album in TRIX in 2014, and for my part they can repeat that in Brussels!
