Timeless indie-rock or indie-pop, as you like. Yup, we're talking about Blonde Redhead, one of the most consistent bands from the New York scene, who will be putting out a new album at the end of 2010. Little is know about it for the moment, except that they'll be coming to launch it in the AB on Saturday 18 September.
Blonde Redhead is still the triumvirate consisting of Italian twins Amedeo and Simone Pace and Japanese Kazu Makino. Their debut was produced by Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley and he also released it on his Smells Like Records label. Since then the list of producers that they've worked with has only become even more impressive: Guy Picciotto from Fugazi provided for ‘Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons’ and ‘Misery Is a Butterfly’ and their previous album ‘23’ was produced by Alan Moulder (see: his work for My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails). It was with that last album under the arm that they came to Rock Werchter in 2007.
Mauro Remiddi aka Porcelain Raft was born in Rome but currently lives in London. Until now, he has mostly produced music for short films and performances. He took to the stage for the first time in 2003 under the name of Three Blind Mice, and later on Sunny Day Sets Fire. A few years ago he worked closely with Filthy Dukes. His first true solo project is called Porcelain Raft, and he will open for Blonde Redhead on their upcoming European tour.
