This is a part of
Black History Month
As part of Belgian Black History Month, we will be hosting 3 live broadcasts on the AB Facebook page, putting the spotlight on some very promising black talent. Some may have already made a name for themselves, either through A COLORS SHOW, by taking part in De Nieuwe Lichting or because they have previously graced the stage at AB. Others have not yet found fame, but are no less worthy of discovery. On the 17th, 18th and 19th of March, we offer a very warm welcome to our rising stars. We have invited Badi and April Maey to join us on Wednesday the 17th of March.
Badi is a Belgian artist with Congolese roots, whose latest album ‘Trouble Fête’ perfectly captures the zeitgeist. Dig a little deeper into his lyrics and you’ll find love, resistance, disappointment, hedonism, and above all, Badi’s quest for identity. His two latest singles, 'Mauvaise Ambiance' en 'Kitendi', earned him an invitation to A COLORS SHOW. But Badi’s tunes will not only charm lovers of poetry: the music speaks for itself. His energetic dance tunes and poetic rap, drawing inspiration from Congelese rumba, is pure joy.
April Maey’s dreamlike voice and mellow beats speak to the heart. This talented young R&B singer released her debut EP ‘Ticket to Anywhere’ last year, finding inspiration in stories, films and nature. The beautifully animated video for ‘Starry Night’ is the perfect embodiment of this.
