'Fretwork', that's the title of his latest CD and, again, he's worked awfully hard on it. This striking Norwegian is still a string-machine, a great guitar-martyr and powerful performer. 'Fretwork' again contains meaningful titles like 'Crazy Times', 'Drifting Blues', 'Killing Floor', 'Mountain Boogie'... This is healthy blues-rock: founded upon the pioneer's patterns, but with increasingly fewer covers and all the more brilliant own compositions.
Bjorn Berge can do it entirely alone: guitar, percussion, vocals... and the patter between songs is always easy-going and astute. Just check out his juicy previous 'Live In Europe', more or less completely recorded in the AB before a 'fantasisk engasjert publikum'!
On 'Fretwork' he opens up his solid sound with extra accents: violin? synthesizer? 2nd guitar?... Also curious how he'll manage all that live this time? In any case a must for fans of the likes of Rodrigo & Gabriela (and in his own well-muscled way rather sexy too!). This is at the same time also Belgium's première of the new Bjorn Berge!
