Utrecht artist debuts as futuristic, one-man electronica/jazz act
A Liveurope concert:
The first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.
Northern neighbour and multi-instrumentalist Frank Wienk started out in ’14, as a sort of futuristic one-man band, working with the songs of his great heroes, at the request of the world renowned Boiler Room. Under the title ‘Beats Unraveled’ and with the assistance of an extensive arsenal of whacky instruments, percussion objects and even household appliances, he reworked songs by the likes of Madlib, Caribou, J Dilla, Aphex Twin and Flying Lotus. That resulted in a sold-out Royal Albert Hall and big ups from greats like Questlove, drummer of The Roots!
The covers phase is now a thing of the past as, in early October ’17, Wienk came out with a debut EP ‘Private Matter Previously Unavailable, Pt. 1’, filled with experimental electronica, folktronica and contemporary jazz-rock. Original, inventive and hyper-exciting… Binkbeats style!
