Gert & Sarah back together, waving at the sun
Bettens! You know them from The Choice, alias K's Choice, then as Sarah and Gert solo, so now as Bettens. Brother and sister found each other again on the North Pole. Or rather: in the soundtrack to a documentary film about Dixie Dansercoer and his polar records: 'Beyond The Challenge.' The brand new CD is called 'Waving At The Sun', also the first time that Gert and Sarah took on such a 'score'.
That turned out to be the artistic spark that also reunited them and kept things interesting again. As if they were starting up a new band, with much loved musicians, but with all the musical possibilities still open and there for the taking. So that's Bettens.
'Waving at the Sun' was recorded in their favourite Echo Mountain studio in North Carolina USA and will be released here by Rough Trade. A first single will be 'Surrender.'
How does Bettens sound? Here's Sarah in the new bio, about the recordings : 'Funny how the subject matter didn't limit us, but rather opened up new avenues of expression.'
Live too, Bettens could head in any direction, 'whatever feels right and fun at the time' (still according to Sarah), and the countless K's Choice fans can only be happy to hear that. Wanna bet?
While we're eagerly waiting, there's already a new website too: www.bettensmusic.com
Bettens now brings along support-act A Fragile Tomorrow. Four lively lads from Charleston, SC, USA; closely associated with Indigo Girls and now heading out on the international road with their fourth CD: ' Be Nice Be Careful' (and we will be, just like with most support acts.)
