Delicate, elegant & intriguing (electro)folk
Unfortunately the Beth Orton concert on Tuesday 22 April at the AB is cancelled.
Management tells us: "After releasing ‘Sugaring Season’ last year, followed by extensive touring in Europe, Australia, the USA... Beth Orton now is exhausted and needs to stay with her family for some time."
If you have tickets, please return them with statement of account to AB Ticketshop, Anspachlaan 110, 1000 Brussel.
If you received your e-tickets via email, please reply your confirmation email to info@abconcerts.be with statement of account.
Beth Orton is a highly original English singer. 'Electro folk' would seem to be the best label. Or 'folktronica', you choose.
Thanks to a mesmerizing voice and finely tuned equipment. Or often with Sam Amidon, her equally talented partner. Or with a small accompanying band, like we're expecting her here this time. Even though she can do it just fine on her own. See: that headline in De Morgen, November 2012: 'Beth Orton opts for elegant nakedness in the Botanique.'
She's already worked with William Orbit, Chemical Brothers, Red Snapper, Terry Callier, Ryan Adams... That's not bad for the reputation.
But as of the mid 90's and a first EP 'She Cries Your Name' , also bravely proceding under her own name. Six CDs out by now, and clearly obtained a unique place, call it a peak, in the department 'appealing, heart-breaking and cosily put together (electro)folk.'
So at the end of last year, suddenly there was also a full Botanique. That much-appreciated come-back took place after six years of seeming silence and a lot of family life. It was also paired with the release of the (again bittersweet, of course) CD 'Sugaring Season' on the Anti-label, here via Pias.
