Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Bill Murray and AB are certainly already fans of this band infected by Beach Boys, The Shangri-Laâs and The Ronettes. Nostalgia certainly has the upper hand with US West Coast residents Best Coast but, due to their injection of nineties indie pop, they are well suited to generation-mates like Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls. Their debut âCrazy For Youâ â with 13 songs to be heard in barely a half hour â is bursting with love songs like âWhen Iâm With Youâ, âBoyfriendâ or the title track âCrazy For Youâ, all stunningly sung by songstress Bethany Cosentino. More importantly: âCrazy For Youâ received heaps of highly praising reviews worldwide:
Pitchfork Media: "It may be a summer album by design, but I'll place my bet that Crazy for You will sound pretty great all damn year, and beyond."
Humo: "***" alsook: "kristalheldere hooks en oorwormen van refreinen".
BBC: "Winning melodies, vivid choruses, memorable hooks and lyrics to make your heart hiccup."
NME: "8/10"
It has been noted.
Support act will be Leeds' trio Sky Larkin. Their two-part album 'Kaleide' was released this summer and it again sounded unpretentious, with a starring role for singer Katie Harkin once more. NME â who rewarded them with a 8/10 â wrote of it:âBrilliantâ. The Evening Standard kept their end up too: âThe sound of a band on the verge of brilliance⊠Theyâve crammed more energy and ideas into 12 tracks than most bands manage in a lifetimeâ.
