New project by Dans Dans and Flying Horseman frontman
If Bert Dockx’ last solo album ‘Safe’ was the sound of the deep, dark night, then ‘Ghosts’ is the sound of the shimmering twilight, of a quest for love and connection in a broken but wonderful world. For ‘Ghosts’, Bert Dockx surrounds himself with an exciting new band containing Loesje and Martha Maieu, both known from Flying Horseman, Louis Evrard (see too: Dockx’ project Ottle) and Max Dobbertin.
The result lies at the crossroads of the naked emotionality of Dockx’ previous solo work, the kaleidoscopic art rock of Flying Horseman, and the brooding instrumental sounds of Dans Dans. “Compelling and beautiful enough to bring you to tears" according to Oor (NL)
Never before has Dockx’ voice sounded deeper or more powerful, and never did his guitar sound more lyrical and compelling. The creative and immersive mix by Philip Weinrobe (Adrainne Lenker, Ceramic Dog, Deerhoof, Alanis Morissette) forms the perfect framework for an incomparable musical journey, from deep within to infinitely far away and back again.
Thanks to a concert review by Da Music, expectations for the show at AB are already high: “The year is still young, but here was a mighty good band making a bid for the title of best concert of the year.”
