Young English singer-songwriter trails Nick Drake & D. Rice.
This young English singer-songwriter is barely 21 and yet he bears a distinguished name: Benjamin Francis Leftwitch. What's more, he's also blessed with a heavenly voice that will soon win hearts on the European mainland. He cites Arcade Fire, Ryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen as influences. But his singles ‘Pictures’, ‘Box Of Stones’ and ‘Atlas Hands’ make one think more Nick Drake and Elliott Smith.
This year his (in England) previously released debut will finally be made available: 'Last Smoke before the Snowstorm'. The Sunday Times wrote of it: "a serious new talent” and music mag The Fly spoke of “a majestic debut”. He's already appeared at Glastonbury, will play Iceland Airwaves at the end of the year, and appear in the AB now for the first time.
The evening with Benjamin Francis Leftwich will be a real double-bill. As Big Harp will now be playing too. Behind Big Harp you will find LA residents and duo/couple Chris Senseney (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Stefanie Drootin-Senseney (bass, backing vocals). Their love resulted in not only a baby but also in ‘White Hat’, the debut released earlier this year by the well-respected Saddle Creek label. Influences go back to classic country and folk, and are injected with solid rock. Townes Van Zandt, Nick Cave, Willie Nelson and Captain Beefheart are never far removed.
