BEAK> feat. Geoff Barrow (Portishead), Matt Williams (Team Brick) and Billy Fuller (Fuzz Against Junk)
BEAK> was established in January 2009 by three musicians from Bristol: Billy Fuller, Matt Williams and Geoff Barrow. We know the latter from the masterful Portishead, of course, where he served as producer as well as musician. Billy Fuller could be found previously in the live bands of Massive Attack and Robert Plant. BEAK>'s work ethic is based upon simplicity: recording take place in a living room and they don’t make overdubs, the computer is only used to create arrangements. BEAK>’s debut will be released on Barrow’s Invada label in October, and in November in the US on Mike Patton’s Ipecac label.
Support act for the BEAK> concert will be trio Thought Forms. Their debut was released previously on Geoff Barrow's Invada label. NME wrote of it: "This debut truly swaggers with the confidence of a band that could look up from its shoes and grab you screaming by the throat.". Barrow in turn then declared: "They're raw - almost grungey - but they've got that shoegazing thing going on too. And if they?re looking at their shoes it means they're not looking in the mirror, know what I mean?".
