Bat For Lashes is the brainchild of British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Natasha Khan. The material for her first album 'Fur and Gold' came about while she worked as a kindergarten teacher. You'd go psychedelic for less.
The new Bat For Lashes album 'Two Suns' was released earlier this year. It was written and recorded in all sorts of places, from sunny California to the British countryside with, every now and then, a little New York or London in between. Yeasayer signed on for the perfect beats, the record's charming closer is a duet with the legendary Scott Walker. Both albums were nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize. In 2007 she had to let the Klaxons go first, maybe this year will be better, the result will be known on September 8. But you can judge for yourself anyway in the AB at Halloween.
Hecuba is an American duo consisting of performance artist Isabelle Albuquerque and musician/designer Jon Beasley. They've already produced 2 albums and NME wrote of them: ‘This LA two-piece do 50’s-influenced spook-electro, with sparse keyboards building atmospheres pregnant with dread and desire, while Isabelle Albuquerque croons nightmare-logic lyrics, one minute a victim, the next a femme fatale. 8/10’. They've already toured with Devendra Banhart and this time they'll be visiting the AB as support act to Bat For Lashes.
