Bastille - Bad Blood
Bastille
July 14, Bastille Day, the day that Dan Smith, songwriter/ singer, saw the light of day. And hop, the super hip London-based Bastille was also born. The excellent first three singles, "Flaw", "Overjoyed" and "Bad Blood" ride on tight hiphop beats, smooth electropop and a whole lotta catchiness and have catapulted this now mature four-strong, one-time bedroom project to the top of many an 'about to break' list. The new single 'Pompeii' arrives in February, the debut album on Virgin / EMI in March, and the AB Club Show in April. It’s clearly crescendo for Bastille.
In the UK they played the London club KOKO, cap. 1500, warmed up for the likes of Emeli Sandé and Two Door Cinema Club, and gave it all at Glastonbury, Reading and Isle Of Wight. On the mainland, Bastille got off to a great start at the Groningen showcase festival Eurosonic, and did so with verve. Proof? "Catchy electro steered by radiogenic melodies and thumping beats and cursed with choruses that get right into your head right away" says De Morgen’s Bart Steenhaut. 9th in his 'Eurosonic 10'!
Stavroz
Stavroz. A name that sounds like a brand of Russian Vodka, but that couldn't be further from the truth! A trendy duo from Ghent that juggles electronica, house, jazz, swing and gypsy, clearly an all-rounder. Just like Russian vodka, it gets you happy and makes those cool dance moves work out a bit better than otherwise. On April 20 they'll be having their official try-out in the Charlatan in Ghent and three days prior they're to be seen in AB, it all gets going with Stavroz!
