Punk rock legends back in AB & fiercer than ever!
Punk rock is not dead, damnit! Together with bands like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, The Offspring, NOFX and Social Distortion, Bad Religion gave âthe establishmentâ a solid kick in the shins in the early '80s... with their clenched-fisted, aggressive punk rock full of religious, political (together with Fat Mike, BR gave the Bush government hell) and social criticism.
More than 30 years(!) and 16 albums(!) later, frontman Greg Graffin (you may also address him as professor, as the man has a Ph.D in anthropology and geology) and cohorts haven't lost any of their rebellious temperament. Latest album âTrue Northâ is bursting with the melodious, high-speed, two-minute punk rock anthems that had Bad Religion albums sliding across counters more than 5 million times. Alongside The Offspring, Green Day and NOFX, that makes them punk rock big-sellers and, just like the latter, the plucky punks from Bad Religion have always remained true to their ideals. The first single from the album received the appropriate title âFuck Youâ and if âjust sounds like a perfect Bad Religion Songâ according to the band. âIf any band should have a song with that title it should be us.â
You had to wait 10 years for this moment, but soon you'll be able to shout along to classics like âAmerican Jesusâ, â21st Centuryâ, âRecipe For Hateâ, âSorrowâ & âPunk Rock Songâ again. And this is just a punk rock show⊠But certainly an impressive one!
âMy favorite newest new group is out of Denmark and theyâre called Broadway Killers. I watched them play and I told them, âYou guys are really good, as good as anything that I have ever seen.â Theyâre super passionate, super willing to be creative and do shit thatâs way out of the normâ.â Not our words but those of Mr. Jay Dee Bentley, bassist of Bad Religion. So basically, check it out!
