AB x L'AÉRONEF JOIN FORCES

Since 2015, the annual Europe Day has always been an occasion for AB to put exciting European music scenes in the spotlight. Absolute highlights so far have been the evenings surrounding the London jazz explosion (with Mosey Boyd and Nubya Garcia, among others) and our focus on the revival of contemporary Turkish psychedelia. This year we are joining forces with sister venue L'Aéronef from Lille for a genuine cross-border celebration of Europe through music.

Because we are welcoming no fewer than 50 kindred spirits from 21 internationally renowned European concert halls that are part of our Liveurope platform to our audience on this Europe Day, we are adding two more acts that AB feels urgently need to be embraced by Europe. Artists who we think should be heard by foreign promoters and should be able to conquer a place on the stages of, say, Vega (Copenhagen), Sala Apolo (Barcelona) or London's Village Underground. Our coup de cœurs of the moment:

AVALANCHE KAITO

Brussels-based Avalanche Kaito is currently racking up press superlatives. Knack Focus: "We were blown away by this energetic Belgian post-punk/no wave trio, led by a griot from Burkina Faso." Het Leids Dagblad: "An overwhelming dose of afropunk." Louder Than War: "They are sensational!". His debut EP 'Dabalomuni' was recently released via the renowned Glitterbeat (cfr. Altin Gün, Bombino, Gaye Su Akyol,...).

NAIMA JORIS PLAYS DANIEL JOHNSTON (AVANT PREMIÈRE)

Also on the program: the haunting voice of Naima Joris with her touching tribute to musical outsider Daniel Johnston. Hear her adaptations of 'True Love Will Find You in the End' or 'Story Of An Artist' and become an instant fan (if you weren't already). A very special avant première of the upcoming EP including 7 reworked Daniel Johnston songs, that will be released before the summer.
