Elegant and honest singer-songwriter: CD presentation
You know Anton Walgrave from 'Lost Soul': from the soundtrack on De Parelvissers and a big radio hit. High time to get to know this sensitive soul a bit better: his sixth and latest CD is due in March. The album is yet to be given a name, but the label is Sugarbeat Records.
Anton Walgrave is from Tienen, was into music by the time he was ten (cassettes back then), and was schooled in London.
He is probably one of our most honest singer-songwriters, gifted with a fantastic voice and great guitar playing.
What we have heard of the new recordings has set us looking for the successor to ‘As You Are’ (2011). A very open sound this time. With extra room for sparkling percussion and beseeching backing vocals.
Fine musicians like Mirko Banovic (Arsenal, Sioen, Arno), David Zegers (Sherman), Arnaut Hellofs (Hooverphonic) and Jelle Van den Berghe (Tom Helsen) play on the tracks while Jeroen Swinnen (Daan, Mastercab, Sherman, Vive La Fête, etc) sits behind the sliders.
We believe that, with this, Anton Walgrave takes his place among other grandmasters of melody such as Milow, Novastar and even Ozark Henry. But why take our word for it? Come listen for yourself.
