Delightful solo vocals & piano
'Strange Days' for An Pierlé. Touring solo again. With an already sold-out Botanique, amongst other venues. Solo piano & vocals, like on her debut. Is it really from 1996 (and that famous Rock Rally) ago? With a new CD out on PIAS: 'Strange Days', indeed. That is also the name of the first, brilliant and very Eastern tinted single.
'Strange Days' for an idiosyncratic and impassioned girl seated on a big, blown-up, exercise ball. That's a familiar sight. We've been enjoying An in the AB ever since 'Bernadetje' (that remarkable theatre show) too. And, of course, those wonderful, more recent, visits with White Velvet. Her Koen Gisen, pace-setter of that band, is currently equally laudably occupied by other productions.
The young girl An PierlĂ© has also become a mother in the meantime. And on 'Strange Days' you can hear that too, of course. But never bland or sickly-sweet. Suddenly here with new songs that seem to be written for 'an other singer'. Up to and including a âTalk Talkâ (alias Mark Hollis) cover - a deserving idol of An's as he's 'hit-sensitive and at the same time deep and not devoid of irony.'
Did you notice that we haven't actually compared her with anyone else yet either? Unique, that An!
An will be bringing Flying Horseman, performing solo, as support!
