Foot forward, punch to the stomach, kick on the breath
With no less than three sold-out shows in AB on the programme, and after their impressive performance at Pukkelpop last Saturday, which will long be remembered, Amenra's concert hunger is not yet satisfied. The Kortrijkzanen come with excellent news for those who could not get a ticket for their Brussels concert series in March, as today they announce a fourth date.
Foot forward, punch in the stomach, kick on the breath. Each concert takes you on a musical trip that blows you over and brings out emotions you didn't know existed. With charismatic frontman Colin H. van Eeckhout acting as glue for Church Of Ra followers and as a leader on the idiosyncratic path the band has carved out over the past few years. The power of their post-doom metal has brought Amenra to the world's biggest stages for years, including last year at Rock Werchter with an impressive performance at The Barn. Amenra's rituals have long been known, appealing to an ever-growing audience with each tour, from St Petersburg to Rio de Janeiro. The series of albums ‘Mass’, followed by ‘The Thorn’ in 2021, are steeped in grief and mourning. Each record is the integration and processing of a trauma. Amenra live is a musical headbang, after which you are left orphaned, yearning for more.
