Singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou is barely 22 years old but has already seen at least half of the world. Grew up in South Africa and, after stops in Paris and Amsterdam (where she earned money by literally playing with fire), she now resides in Berlin. Phoebe Lou discovered her musical talent upon arrival there and after that, bearing only her guitar and a first EP ‘Momentum’, she headed back out into the wider world (from Palestine to New York).

In the meantime, Alice has already brushed off many a record deal and passed for a European tour with Coldplay as “I was honoured and it’s awesome but is that what I want to do?”, she wondered aloud.

Lou’s self-funded (what did you expect?) folk debut will be out in 2016. In avant première, we will receive an acoustic foretaste of it here in our Huis23. If it’s up to us and Alice Phoebe Lou, then everyone is more than welcome: “Music to me is about storytelling and singing about subjects that are relatable to all humans”.
