Rare performance in Brussels by this associate of Coltrane's
One for the lovely thoughts category: imagine that Adolphe Sax sees John Coltrane live at the Villague Vanguard in New York... only then would he realise quite how influential his invention has been for jazz. And what better compliment for Sax than for one of the jazz greats, John Coltrane, to put his lips to the reed of the saxophone. Coltrane is no longer with us but, thankfully enough, we still have that glorious thing, the âSix Degrees of Separationâ. Or, to put it another way, six small steps to get close to your hero. AB has pulled out the stops and invited Coltrane's pal, Archie Shepp.
Archie Shepp: sax, voice
Tom Mc Clung: piano
Reggie Washington: double bass
Steve Mc Craven: drums
