Evening based on much talked about witch house label Tri Angle.
AB is proud to be able to present a night - that will only be stopping in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Brussels, - based upon one of the most exciting electronica-labels of the moment: Tri ▼Angle Records. The ▼sign refers, in the first place, to the hip witch house genre. Lets just describe it as a mysterious mix of r&b, dubstep, electro, drugs and witchcraft. The term even became one of the words to define 2010, in De Morgen. Tri ▼Angle Records Records is the flag-bearer of the genre and vouches for cast-iron releases from the likes of How To Dress Well, Clams Casino, Ayshay and the following acts who will be present in AB:
Balam Acab (us)
Balam Acab – a good-natured demon from Mayan mythology - is the alter-ego of the young Alec Koone. He impressed with his EP ‘See Birds’ from 2010 and his fully-fledged long-player ‘Wander / Wonder’ was much-appreciated, all over. Pitchfork praised them with an impressive 8.2, Humo threw out a *** ½ review and De Standaard wrote: “surprising debut” and described his music appropriately as “hypnotizing mists of sound”.
Behind oOoOO (pronounce it: ‘oh’) you will find San Francisco resident Christopher Dexter Greenspan, a disciple of ‘Untrue’ by Burial. His debut EP of the same name was released in 2010 and it summons up the mood of Fever Ray and Salem. Boomkat wrote of it: “simply one of the most extraordinary debut records we've heard in a long time.”
Holy Other (uk)
We don't actually know who's behind Holy Other, just yet. Where he lives is anyone's guess. Some say Berlin, others Gothenburg and for the moment we're going for Manchester. He certainly impressed us already with his EP ‘With You’. Pitchfork wrote of it: “an ultimately rewarding piece of work”.
