Timber Timbre is the Canadian triumvirate of multi-instrumentalists Taylor Kirk, Mika Posen and Simon Trottier. Think musically of equal portions gospel, blues and country in a fairytale setting topped by the stirring baritone of Kirk. Appeared on the AB-radar with an untitled gem of a debut album last year. Successor ‘Creep On Creepin’ On’ will be released on 4 April and so the band from Montreal will arrive in the ABClub after a whirlwind visit to Crossing Border, on 22 April.

‘But rather than the consoling isolation that Bon Iver found in the backwoods, Kirk channels the strangeness and unease into a world of séances and shallow graves with only his honeyed croon for company’. (The Guardian)

Early in March there will also be a new album by American singer-songwriter Jesse Sykes, who always bears the suffix & The Sweet Hereafter. That eternity contains the likes of her partner-in-life and ex-Whiskeytown (and thus Ryan Adams-companion) Phil Wandscher. Her most recent work was collected on the CD ‘Like, Love, Lust & The Open Halls of the Soul’ which – according to HUMO - ‘meandered along Lambchoppery country through grieving Americana and country-goth to powerful, Crazy Horse-reminiscent rock’. So impressive that Sunn O))) invited Jesse Sykes to the 2011 edition of the Roadburn festival. No wonder seeing as Sweet Hereafter-bassist William Herzog was previously a part of Sunn O))).
