Legendary rockers present new album
As brilliant and raw as ever, Pete Doherty, Carl Barât, Gary Powell and John Hassall have released a new album this year. The enfants terribles of the UK scene are now announcing a European tour for 2025, with a stop in Belgium !
Formed in 1997 by two emblematic figures of British rock, The Libertines have everything going for them. Right from the start, they beat off the competition with two tracks on the same single: "What a Waster" and "I Get Along", both produced by Suede's Bernard Butler. The band, led by Pete Doherty and Carl Barât, enjoyed a meteoric rise to success with two landmark albums, 'Up The Bracket' (2002) and 'The Libertines' (2004), produced by Mick Jones of The Clash. Urgency, chaos, genius and scandal surrounded the career of the most influential English band of the new millennium, until their painful split in 2004. Apart from a few fleeting reunions for high-profile concerts, The Libertines returned to the limelight in 2015 with the successful release of 'Anthems For Doomed Youth'. Galvanised by the 20-year anniversary tour of 'Up The Bracket' in 2022, Pete Poherty and Carl Barât decided to return to the studio straight away. The result was 'All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade', released in 2024. An album that continues in the same vein as its predecessor, more mature and balanced.
