Radiohead-drummer delivers fine second album.
Radiohead-drummer Philip Selway surprised us in ’10 with his fine folk-oriented debut ‘Familial’. An album that was much savoured by music lovers. Proof: a sold-out AB Club in that same year. Successor ‘Weatherhouse’ is now ready, with a slightly darker undertone.
After the release of Radiohead’s ‘The King Of Limbs’ (’11) and the associated tour (until ’12), the members of Radiohead decided to take a break for a while. Selway described that rest as: “For me, I wanted to be at home and make another solo record.” He recorded in Oxfordshire in the studio of his parent's band. Selway: “With Familial, I went into it thinking, I’m doing this outside Radiohead, so it should be something that’s not Radiohead at all, but I’m now comfortable with embracing my Radiohead self a bit more.”
