Turkish percussionist who has also worked with Don Cherry
There are combi-tickets are available for this concert that also give admittance to the concert by Mustafa Özkent on Friday 20 November.
Turkish percussionist/instrument-builder Okay Temiz has already worked in the past with famous jazz musicians like Marcus Miller, Dexter Gordon and Bobo Stenson. You can certainly also add Don Cherry to this list. What's more: due to that collaboration, Temiz (who was born in ’39 in Istanbul) moved to Don Cherry’s homeland, Sweden, because the climate for musicians was a lot better there than in Turkey. Around the turn of the century, Temiz returned to Turkey where he is often the guest of prestigious bands.
In the meantime, Temiz has reached the blessed age of 76 and now enters into an alliance with La Fanfare Du Belgistan as a part of Europalia. On the repertoire: jazz, Balkan and Arabic compositions.
This concert came into being thanks to the additional support of Europalia Arts Festival and Les Ateliers Claus.
