folktronique soundshapes, more sexual references
'Not to disappear', that’s the title of the new CD by this intriguing international trio, available here via Beggars. Luckily, they haven’t disappeared: Daughter is back again, three years after their sold-out AB of November '13.
Then, there was the avidly listened to debut 'If you leave' by Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli and Rémi Aguilella: alias Daughter. So: British, Swiss & French and with London as homebase.
Even just Les Inrocks alone spoke of a 'relève d' un folk anglais 2.0... beau à mourir en forme d' instantanés... voix cristalline... le don des trois complices pour les orchestrations mille-feuilles, majestueuses et bouleversantes...4/5'
Elena would also like to mention this about her new lyrics: 'I guess there are a lot more sexual references, that kind of lonely interpretation of sex. I don’t know if many other people have spoken about it that way. But I thought, if my brain isn’t trying to hide this stuff, then it obviously means I should talk about it. It feels like I’m being braver, which is liberating.”
