Indie-folk trio transforms AB into a crackling campfire
“Clever, emotive and thoughtful.” (Q MAGAZINE)
“Islands van Bear's Den knettert als een haardvuur. Matuur debuut.” (DE MORGEN**** – CD of the week)
On their debut ‘Islands’, West-London trio Bear’s Den (named after a character from ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ by M. Sendak) turn out acoustic, folky, songs to enjoy attentively much in the style of early-Midlake, Fleet Foxes, Ben Howard and Mumford & Sons. The three from Bear’s Den have, aside from a banjo-maniac, even more similarities with the latter: together with producer Ian Grimble (Bear’s Den, The 1975, Manic Street Preachers, Travis), both bands had a say in the running of the Communion label of Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, Half Moon Run and others.
After tours under the wing of Ben Howard and Daughter, Bear’s Den stood on their own two feet last year at the Nijdrop in Opwijk (9/10/14, i.c.w. AB) and earlier this year the Orangerie of the Botanique (21/02) filled right up for a portion of heartwarming, melancholy indie-folk.
Pukkelpop is on the programme this year and after that they'll be heading back down to Brussels to transform the AB into a crackling campfire on which you can warm your body, heart and soul.
